A heart warming yet nostalgic moment
Recently, I experienced a bittersweet mix of emotions when my youngest sister reached out to me , frustrated with moms strict curfew rules. She had a special program too attend , but it conflicted with her curfew time. Mom wasn’t budging, so my sister turned to me for help.
A happy Resolution
I intervened on her behalf explaining the situation yo mom and we found a compromise. Her curfew time was adjusted with conditions , and everyone was relieved.
A touch of Nostalgia
As I watched my sisters issue resolve, i felt a pang of sadness. I recalled my own struggles with curfews when I was younger. Having a supportive sibling mediator would have made a big difference back then. I am grateful for the curfews that kept me safe, but I wish I had someone to advocate for me.
A Message for first borns
As a former “rule-abiding” oldest daughter, I empathize with other in similar situations.Strict rules can be overwhelming especially for first daughter who have to deal with the strictest version of the rules while having the least amount of help going through them. I hope this story resonates with parents and children, highlighting the importance of understanding and open communication.
A Mediators Wish
Though I’m no longer bound by curfews, my heart goes out to children who need a mediator to speak on their behalf. I hope this story inspires empathy and understanding, and maybe, just maybe, it’ll act as a mediator for a child who needs it.
